As many storied NCAA tournament runs go, Dayton men’s basketball’s trip to the Elite Eight in 1984 showed the world that amazing things happen in March. The Flyers, an at-large No. 10 seed in the West, took down mighty foes on their quest for a national title; they defeated LSU (in a classic 7-and-10-seed matchup), No. 2 seed Oklahoma, and No. 6 seed Washington. While Dayton would fall to eventual champion Georgetown, the Flyers’ run cemented their place among college basketball’s iconic teams.
